Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how CatBallWorld collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use this website and its related services (collectively, the 'Service').

01 //About This Policy

CatBallWorld (the 'Service', 'we', 'us', or 'our') is operated by an individual creator (the 'Operator'). This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors and registered users of the Service worldwide. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.

02 //Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information: (a) Account information — when you register, we collect your email address, username, and an encrypted password (or, if you sign in through a third party such as Google, the basic profile information that provider shares with us). (b) Gameplay and profile data — your in-game progress, choices, character states, personality profiles, achievements, and virtual currency ('Dream Shards') balances. (c) Payment information — when you purchase Dream Shards or paid features, payment is handled by our third-party payment processor (Stripe); we do not store your full card number and receive only limited transaction details (such as a confirmation, the amount, and the last four digits). Purchases are completed through Stripe Managed Payments, with Link (a Stripe company) acting as merchant of record: Stripe/Link processes your payment details, billing address, and location (including to calculate applicable taxes), and sends receipts and order emails directly to you; you can also manage your orders and request deletion of your Link data at link.com. (d) Content you submit — the text, choices, and other inputs you provide while using our AI-driven features. (e) Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type, device information, language and theme preferences, pages visited, and similar diagnostic data collected automatically. (f) Cookies and local storage — see the 'Cookies' section below.

03 //How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: (a) provide, operate, and maintain the Service; (b) create and manage your account and authenticate you; (c) process transactions and manage your Dream Shards balance; (d) enable AI-driven features by transmitting your inputs to our AI service providers; (e) personalise your experience (such as remembering your language and theme); (f) monitor usage, prevent fraud and abuse, and maintain security; (g) communicate with you about service-related matters; and (h) comply with legal obligations.

04 //Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as language and visual theme), and understand how the Service is used. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling them may affect certain features. Third-party providers (such as analytics or advertising partners) may also set their own cookies, as described below.

05 //Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on trusted third-party providers to operate the Service and share information with them only to the extent necessary. These include, among others: Supabase (database, authentication, and storage); Stripe and Link (payment processing and merchant of record); our AI and large-language-model providers (which process the content you submit in order to generate responses); Vercel (hosting and infrastructure); and, where enabled, Google AdSense (advertising) and email-delivery providers. Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms. We do not sell your personal information.

06 //AI Processing

Certain features transmit the text and choices you submit to third-party AI providers for processing. Please do not enter sensitive personal information, confidential data, or anything you would not want processed by an external service into these features. AI-generated output may be inaccurate and must not be relied upon as professional advice.

07 //Advertising

The Service may display advertising provided by third parties such as Google AdSense. These partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. We do not share your account credentials or payment details with advertising partners.

08 //International Data Transfers

We operate primarily from Hong Kong, and our service providers may store and process your information in various countries. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to, and processed in, jurisdictions outside your own, which may have different data-protection laws. We take reasonable steps to keep your information protected in accordance with this Policy.

09 //Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete a character or your account, we do not immediately and permanently erase the underlying records; instead, your data is moved into a soft-archived state (a snapshot is preserved) so that your history can be restored or compiled into the library feature. Truly permanent ('hard') deletion is performed only by the Operator and only where appropriate or required by law. Even after you request deletion, we may retain certain information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your personal data by contacting us.

10 //Legal Disclosures

We may access, preserve, and disclose your information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to: comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or a governmental request; enforce these terms and our policies; detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or protect the rights, property, or safety of the Operator, our users, or the public.

11 //Aggregated and Anonymised Data

We may create aggregated, de-identified, or anonymised data from the information we collect. Such data does not identify you personally, and we may use and retain it for any lawful purpose, including improving and developing the Service, without restriction under this Policy.

12 //Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls provided by our infrastructure partners — to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13 //Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@catballworld.com, and we will respond within a reasonable time. Residents of certain jurisdictions (such as the EEA, the UK, or California) may have additional rights under local law.

14 //Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Users below the age of majority in their jurisdiction should use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, and paid features require you to be at least 18 years old (see the Terms of Service). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

15 //Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the 'last updated' date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.

16 //Language

This Privacy Policy is provided in Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean for your convenience. In the event of any conflict, ambiguity, or inconsistency between the versions, the Traditional Chinese version shall prevail and be the authoritative text.

17 //Final Right of Interpretation

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator reserves the right of final interpretation of this Privacy Policy.

18 //Contact Us

If you have questions or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data, contact us at hello@catballworld.com.
